Misty Copeland (yes another Copeland) is known as the first African-American principle ballerina in any major company. Scrolling through her instagram reminds me that ballet dancers are not only graceful but are real athletes too.
Dani was first introduce to body building through instagram like so many others and women like Andreia became our inspiration. She contradicts the myth that body builders aren’t sexy. I want to work hard to have half the muscles she has.

We Have Been Up To:

– Still on the hunt for Danni’s wedding dress.
– Celebrated Halloween with some friends in Downtown LA. We decided on a double date costume as the Addams Family.
ONE: Natural Pumpkin Muffins – My sister posted this recipe a few weeks ago and we have been obsessed with it. This has been a great way to get our pumpkin fix with our coffee.
TWO: Tire Flips – One of our favorite things our gym is the constant update of new equipment. This month it was tires. It is great for a HITT cardio sessions, while retaining muscles.
THREE: Under Armor Cold Gear Infrared Tactical Jacket – Although it it hasn’t been that cold, I still have been loving this jacket. Just perfect mix of classic black jacket for working out.
FOUR: Quest Protein Chips – These chips have been one of our favorite snacks this month, It’s great for when your on the go and craving junk food.
I can’t believe we are now halfway through 2016! Although my sister’s and I are creatures of habit, we do find ourselves obsessed with new discoveries. Here are our July Fitness Favorites.
While Danni has been taking Amino Energy from Optimum Nutrition for a while now, we just discovered they have flavors like vanilla latte, iced chai tea, and iced mocha cappuccino. Not only do we get our energy boost before a workout, but it’s like having a Starbucks drink.
My sister and I go through cycles of new ways to incorporate cardio. Although we love taking spin classes, it’s been hard to find a class to fit our schedule. We recently have been using Assault Air Bike at our gym. They have interval options that guide you through a quick HITT workout. This is an amazing alternative for a quick cardio session that leaves your legs burning.
This might be a strange favorite, but we recently watched the CrossFit Game Championships on ESPN. Watching the women compete was inspiring. I love the power that women like Katrin Tanja and Brooke Ence possess. They also show the world that having muscles is sexy and badass all at the same time.
With summer approaching, we wanted to share items that have will be excited to use to keep us on track on the Summer months. So here is our June fitness favorites.
Nike + Training Club App
My sister and I love this app from when we want to do a unplanned circuit training. The app has easy-to-follow training for every type of workouts. It even lets you pick the time duration and difficulty level of each workout set.
Although ab rollers isn’t new to most people, it was new to us. As I mentioned before, my core is one of my weakest areas, but sadly I was always to lazy to strengthen it. Since I started doing ab roller twice a week, I’ve seen a huge improvement.
Oprah Cinnamon Chai Tea at Starbucks
I wish I would have discovered this during the holiday season, since it taste like Christmas drink. But non the less it’s still great to have all year round. We have been drinking this during our late night Starbucks runs.
Carly Rowena Blogger / YouTuber
Danni has been telling me about Carly Rowena for a while, but I just started watching her Youtube videos and have been obsessed. I wish I had her life! She has great fitness videos and tips for anyone trying to get fit.
The other monthly favorite that is not pictured and not fitness related is Hamilton, the Broadway musical. My sister and I have been listening to the record non-stopped and can’t wait until we see it live. I’ve been listening to it while I’m doing cardio and it makes time fly.
I love watching monthly favorites from Youtubers like Mimi Ikonn and Essie Lalonde. Therefore, I decided to share our May fitness favorites. I’m sure this list can go on and on, but I’ll just stick to our top five.
ONE: PaleOMG has been our must read blog for this month. We always love finding fitness bloggers who has figured out a balance between being healthy and enjoying life. Juli from PaleOMG seems to have this down. She gives awesome fitness tips and recipes.
TWO: If you haven’t watch Twinster Documentary on Netflix go watch it! It’s an amazing story of two girls who discovered they had a twin after being separated at birth from adoption. Of course being twins ourselves, this movie made us appreciate the unique bond.
THREE: Nutritionist Know-How: Dining Out Healthfully from the Cupcakes and Cashmere blog was a helpful read this month. If your someone who likes to go eat out, yet watch their calorie intake, this article has great tips.
FOUR: Cocoa Parlor Dark Chocolate, has been our go to treat this month. Although there are tons of “healthy” chocolates in the market, it’s not common to find one that doesn’t include coca butter and still taste good. This chocolate only includes 2-3 ingredients that are all natural.
FIVE: Two Guns Espresso in Manhattan Beach is where you can find us every weekend. We are always a sucker for great coffee and a cute coffee shop.
Now that Christmas is approaching it’s time to start thinking of gifts. My favorite gifts are the practical and have multiple purposes. If you have loved ones that are into fitness or who just like being active, here are our fit gift guide.
This gift is perfect for women who want to keep track of their steps, yet still look stylish and professional. The Tory Burch for Fitbit Metal Hinged Bracelet comes in real gold, silver, or rose gold to cover your Fitbit Flex Tracker.
Lululemon Rue Boheme Sports Bra
More and more we see style and sports gear merge into everyday wear and this sports bra is a perfect example. Not only is this bra cute to wear to yoga, but you can mix it with your wardrobe.
It’s not often when you see a yoga mat that stands out from the rest, but this abstract geometric print will definitely make you the envy of every girl in class.
Another great gift that doesn’t scream gym gear is this Nike backpack. Although it’s not intended for the gym, it does have two removable mesh sacks to hold your sweaty gym clothes, it may as well be. It’s also made of water resistant nylon and the best part it is less than $100, Score!
The Nike Lean Running Waistpack is perfect for girls who want to carry their phone with them while working out. It’s made of a stretchy mesh that is lightweight, so you can’t even feel it on you.
I know fitness trackers have been all the rage lately and there are endless options to choose from. Well there’s a reason why Fitbit is still leading the pack. Not only does Fitbit Charge HR count steps, it also tracks and records different workouts, notifies when someone’s calling, tracks sleeping pattern, and the best part it’s a heart monitor. What else can you ask for!
Like most things on the list, it’s always great when you can use your gym gear outside of just the gym and Herschel Supply Duffle Bag fits this criteria. My favorite part is the shoe compartment that stores your men’s sneakers.
Typically a protein shaker is just a protein shaker, but the Umoro Protein Shakers bring something extra to the game. It has a small compartment on top, which allows you to enjoy your plain water. When you are ready, push the button, your supplement will be mixed in. This is even on my Christmas list.
There are men who prefer being outdoors, for those guys the Schwinn Bike is a fantastic gift. It has long history of being one of the premier American bike companies.
LivFit Apparel isn’t just another t-shirt company it’s a lifestyle brand with bodybuilding roots. It truly brings style and a coolness factor to men’s active wear. This surf tank is perfect for any men who live in their gym clothes.
